ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY

B.Sc Civil Engineering

Civil Engineering Structures (CES)

The programme focuses on the structural design of various types of engineering as well as industrial buildings and structures. CES curriculum includes the design of metal, concrete, wood and masonry structures. It also covers the repairing and rebuilding of buildings and structures, computer-aided design, construction works, typical project management and architectural design of simple buildings.

Sample modules/Keywords: Computer Methods in Civil Engineering, Concrete Structures, Metal Structures, Building Physics, and three Elective Courses.

Construction Engineering and Management (CEM)

This specialization is devoted to the execution, operation and project management. CEM is focused on the technology and organizations of building works including computer techniques, selection of materials, construction, service, and protection of buildings and engineering structures. CEM deals with construction process of typical buildings or modernization, repair and adaptation of existing buildings, and production process of components or construction products.

Sample modules/Keywords: Computer Methods in Management, Technologies of Building Works, Cost and Effectiveness of Investment, Production Processes, Mineral, Polymer, Asphalt Composites Technology, and two Elective Courses.

Sustainable Building (SB)

The specialization is focused on issues related to the integrated design of environment friendly buildings and structures. Programme includes education on methods of evaluation and selection of building materials to meet the sustainability criteria, methods for assessment of the impact of buildings on the environment, life-cycle analysis, advanced methods of building physics with issues related to revitalization and thermo-modernization of buildings as well as numerical simulations and analysis. SB deals also with computer-aided design and construction works, and basic principles of architectural design.

Sample modules/Keywords: Computing in Sustainable Building, Construction Physics, Designing of Building in Accordance with Principles of Sustainable Development, Elements of Sustainability in Architecture, Sustainable Building Materials, and two Elective Courses.

Transportation Engineering (TE)

Transportation Engineering specialization is dedicated to the transportation system planning and management, and design of transportation facilities, including roads and railroads. TE deals with geometric design, traffic estimation, technology and organizations of building works including computer techniques, selection of materials, service, and maintenance of transportation infrastructure.

Sample modules/Keywords: Computer Methods in Highway Engineering, Highway Engineering, Railway Engineering, Earthworks and Structures, Pavements and Road Materials Technology, and three Elective Courses.
